Our story

A movie house. A restaurant. Now the stage.

The REX opened on December 10, 1941 as the New Theatre. It ran films for 45 years, closed in 1986, and spent the decades after as a restaurant. Two years of restoration brought the room back: the bones of a classic theatre with a modern stage, a full lighting rig, and sound built for touring acts.

The mission is simple. Bring the shows you'd drive to D.C. or Baltimore for down to Washington Street, and give Leonardtown a room worth going out for.
